[Editorial] Opening eyes to prevent blindness

Oct 10 was World Sight Day 2013 (WSD13), organised by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness and WHO. The theme for the next few years will be universal eye health, evoking the global occurrence of vision impairment—roughly 285 million people worldwide suffer from low vision or blindness—as well as the importance of promoting all aspects of eye care. In view of this theme, WSD13 advocates a simple message: get your eyes tested. (Source: LANCET)
