Dr. Hayhoe opens Grounded Theory and Disability Studies by asking the question, “Why write a book about a research study using grounded theory, a methodology that is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary?” He answers this question throughout the course of the book, as he attempts to apply the philosophy, principles and methods of grounded theory to a series of studies begun in 1993 about blind students in an art class.
